Under new adoption inspection arrangements, only local authorities that ensure all children identified for adoption are placed within twelve months will be able to achieve an ‘outstanding’ judgement from Ofsted.

Calls for reform of fostering services

The think-tank, Policy Exchange, has called for radical reform of fostering services in England and Wales. A report published by the organisation has shown that in some instances severely disadvantaged children are waiting for over a year for a foster placement and that the life chances for many children in the system are appalling.

Calls to parent helpline on children’s aggression increase

Family Lives’ updated aggression report has found that calls to its Parentline regarding aggressive behaviour have increased by 2%, and only 56% of respondents to an online survey had sought help for their child’s problem.

A teenager from Worcestershire has lost her legal bid to be allowed to raise her two-year-old daughter after an Appeal Court judge upheld a ruling that the child should be put in a permanent placement, reports the Telegraph.
