Following figures released by Cafcass showing that care applications have exceeded 10,000 over the last  twelve months for the first time, the Fostering Network is warning this will put foster care under even more pressure and is calling for urgent Government investment.

Calls for reform of fostering services

The think-tank, Policy Exchange, has called for radical reform of fostering services in England and Wales. A report published by the organisation has shown that in some instances severely disadvantaged children are waiting for over a year for a foster placement and that the life chances for many children in the system are appalling.

The Fostering Network is calling for foster families and young people with experience of care to be much more involved during the inspection of fostering services, to ensure standards of care and outcomes for children are improved.
